40 years of LASEROPTIK GmbH!

An extraordinary anniversary celebration turned out to be highly informative, enjoyable and moving.

LASEROPTIK celebrated its 40th anniversary with an event lasting several days. To be honest, everyone was a guest at a circus, where a very entertaining spectacle was presented.

The customer day was accompanied by an extensive program. After guided tours of the production area Prof. Dr. Herbert Welling, who once brought the laser to Hanover in 1967, and Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Stefan Hell gave a few words of welcome. The numerous technical presentations in the morning were accepted with enthusiasm, including a contribution by Prof. Dr. Constantin Häfner from the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology in Aachen on nuclear fusion and thus on the upcoming PriFUSIO research project of the German government*, in which LASEROPTIK GmbH is participating as one of ten companies involved. Insights into the topic of laser damage thresholds by Prof. Dr. Detlev Ristau from the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. finally complemented the interesting series of lectures.

The party continued in the circus tent with the gala dinner. After the premiere of the anniversary film Claudio Provenzano, Mayor of Garbsen, presented a very special gift: the street leading to the company premises was named “Johannes-Ebert-Strasse”. A wonderful tribute to the life's work of our company founder and pioneer, who passed away in 2019.

Dr. Wolfgang Ebert and his brother Martin performed real magic when Wolfgang made his brother disappear and then stabbed him with flaming lances. The brother also reappeared to great applause from the guests.

Another day under the motto “family & friends” made the anniversary celebrations complete. On this occasion, the street sign for the new Johannes-Ebert-Strasse was officially unveiled to the cheers of over 200 guests. Afterwards, the circus feeling, with artistry, juggling and magic could be fully experienced. Numerous food and drink outlets were set up and catered for the almost 500 people. The guests danced and celebrated to party music until dawn.

The end of both days was long and communicative with midsummer temperatures and cool drinks. Many thanks to all the guests and contributors who made it a great day.

We look forward to the next 40 years!
